Case Study

Dear friends,

This great thing happened. My colleagues and I helped a boy with severe rheumatoid arthritis avoid hip replacement. We wrote up a case study and got it published. Check it out:

IMCJ Integrative Medicine: A Clinician’s Journal, April/May 2017, Vol 16, No 2 Successful Interprofessional Treatment of Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Case Report by Judith Boothby, MS, DC, PC; Shelly Coffman, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT, CSCS; Todd Turnbull, DC.

A 9-y-old boy with severe juvenile rheumatoid arthritis who had been recommended for bilateral hip replacement received treatment for more than 8 years from an interprofessional group of clinicians. The clinicians provided chiropractic, naturopathic, and acupuncture care, in addition to pediatrics, rheumatology, orthopedics, and physical therapy care. This process was not easy; the patient used crutches for 2 y during treatment and experienced severe pain secondary to multiple joint pathology. He is now aged 17 years, and he regularly plays golf and basketball with his own hips.

Look at these awesome changes!
